Echogram prenatal screening

Does the client have a complaint regarding prenatal screening carried out by a first line obstetrician in her capacity as a screening sonographer? Or has the echogram been carried out by a non-obstetrician sonographer employed by a obstetric practice? In that case too, she can rely on the KNOV Complaints Procedure.

Under certain conditions, the KNOV complaints procedure also applies to complaints about the obstetric centre where the echogram was carried out. First line prenatal screening institutions can adopt different types of legal formats, such as a Private Limited Company and cooperatives. By virtue of a procedure that came into permanent effect in July 2007, complaints about these types of institutions also fall under the scope of the KNOV complaints procedure. The above is subject to the conditions below:

  1. The institution provides first line obstetric care and employs obstetricians
  2. The activities of the institution ties in with the KNOV objectives as laid down in the bylaws

The institution can rely on the KNOV complaints procedure, free of charge. If a complaint is submitted in which a KNOV member is personally involved, the complaint will be handled, free of charge. If the complaint does not involve a KNOV member, the costs per complaint is € 1900 (price level of 2007). This is in accordance with the current regulations for non-members. Further information in relation to this is listed in the document Use of the KNOV complaints procedure by legal entities.
