International
In addition to activities in the Netherlands, the KNOV is also involved in projects abroad. The Sierra Leone Twinning Project, for example was started in 2009.

Development of the professional profile
The KNOV ensures that the professional profile continues to tie in with numerous developments.

Promoting quality assurance
Quality must be enforced, updated and improved at all times. This requires a continuous effort from obstetricians aimed at the professional development.

Promotion of interests
The KNOV acts as spokesman towards many organisations and the press. The KNOV also acts as a legally recognised representative of its members.

Complaints handling
Since the end of 1989, a procedure has been in place for obstetricians which meets the legal requirements with regard to the right of complaint. KNOV members can rely on this complaints procedure by virtue of their membership. Non-members will have to pay a fee per complaint.
