Prenatal screening
The KNOV believes that prenatal screening should form part of first line care. For women with a medical indication for specialist care, prenatal screening in the second line is available. This is line with the policy to provide the right care in the right place, without having an excess or shortage in care.
Prenatal screening forms part of prenatal care offered by first line obstetricians, regardless of the age of the pregnant woman.
Obstetricians actively offer counselling sessions in order to support clients when opting for or against prenatal screening. The combination test and the Structural Echographic Examination are offered in first line obstetric screening centres.
